Elon Musk has set a new record as his wealth surprisingly increased by 36 billion U.S dollars in a single day, making him the new richest man in the world. Elon Musk is now the richest person in the world according to both Forbes and Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index.
Before now, Bernard Arnault was the richest man in the world after overtaking Jeff Bezos (founder and executive chairman of Amazon,) but he occupied that position for just two months (from 26 August 2021 to 27 October 2021.)
Bill Gates (co-founder of Microsoft along with his late childhood friend Paul Allen) who has dominated the list of the world’s richest men for years is now said to be the 4th richest man in the world.
Musk has challenged a United Nations official’s claim that just a small percentage of his wealth could help solve world hunger.
David Beasley, director of the UN’s World Food Programme, made a comment that “Just $6 billion could keep 42 million people from dying.”
Elon Musk then responded that he wants to see the proof that $6 Billion can basically solve world hunger.
Musk replied that if the World Food Programme, using transparent and open accounting, “can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.”
His fortune is said to have surged dramatically due to his stake in SpaceX, a private space-exploration company that was valued at about $100 billion a few weeks ago.
Not only is Musk now number one on the list of the world’s richest people, but he is also now nearly $ 100 billion richer than Amazon’s runner-up Jeff Bezos.
Musk is the chief executive officer (CEO) of the electric-vehicle company, which recently joined the handful of companies valued at more than $1 trillion.
Musk now reportedly has almost 290 billion U.S Dollars, and Bezos now reportedly has 192 billion USD.
