Talking about Trustworthy Computing, Bill Gates, the co-founder and owner of Microsoft, says he has sent out a memo to his staff every few years talking about security issues and the highest priority for Microsoft.
This is one of the most important memos Gates has sent to his employee at Microsoft and Subsidiaries. In it, he talks about “Trustworthy computing.”
Every few years I have sent out a memo talking about the highest priority for Microsoft. Some years ago, Gates sent out a memo to his workers about the kickoff of the .NET strategy.
Before that, it was several memos about the importance of the Internet to our future and the ways we could make the Internet truly useful for people.
According to Gates who is one of the richest people in the world, “over the last year, it has become clear that ensuring .NET is a platform for Trustworthy Computing is more important than any other part of our work.”
“If we don’t do this, people simply won’t be willing — or able — to take advantage of all the other great work we do.”
In the memo, Gates maintains that “Trustworthy Computing is the highest priority for all the work we are doing.” “We must lead the industry to a whole new level of Trustworthiness in computing,” he added.
Gates went further to state that when they started work on Microsoft.NET some years ago, they set a new direction for the company and thereby articulated a new way to think about their software.
He insisted that rather than developing standalone applications and Web sites, “today we’re moving towards smart clients with rich user interfaces interacting with Web services.”
Although, there are lots of competitors out there, Gates continues to look for a way to make Windows the best client and server in the world.
