Just last month, The Taliban government in Afghanistan banned women from traveling alone without a male guardian.

Dress code for Afghan women

Dress code for Afghan women

The Taliban has now ordered Afghan women to cover up head to toe in public. In other words, all Afghan women must wear head-to-toe clothing in public.

In the newly issued decree, women should leave their homes only when necessary. Henceforth, women can only show their eyes in public. The so-called decree recommends that women should wear the head-to-toe burqa.

The funniest part of it is that the male relatives would also face punishment for women’s dress code violations. This will make the men to ensure that their wives, sisters, and female relatives comply with the dress code.

In one of our previous articles about Afghanistan, we wondered why the Taliban have a strong dislike for women!

While reacting to the news, the White House National Security Council condemned the Taliban’s new decree and urged them to reverse it.

“We are discussing this with other countries and partners. The legitimacy and support that the Taliban seeks from the international community depend entirely on their conduct, specifically their ability to back stated commitments with actions.”

Meanwhile, most provinces in Afghanistan have closed educational institutions for girls and women.
