According to the PDP-Laban party, President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines has agreed to be the ruling political party’s vice-presidential candidate in next year’s elections.

It appears Duterte is intentionally doing this in order to cling on to power because In the Philippines, the president is limited to one six-year term and Duterte’s term is due to end by June, 2022.

ally Go will be the presidential candidate while Duterte will be his vice. If ally Go wins and decides to resign anytime, Duterte will automatically become the president again.

That will be a kind of loophole to beat the law that prevents Duterte from running for president for the second time.
