According to his family, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, secretary of state, and national security adviser, Mr. Powell died of complications of Covid-19.

Powell is the man who shaped U.S national security service. He died at the age of 84.

In four decades of public life, Powell served as the nation’s top soldier, diplomat, and national security adviser.

Powell was being treated at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, in Bethesda when he passed away.

Before his death, he is said to have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Still, he was killed by COVID-19.

His death has raised questions about the effectiveness of the available vaccines against the deadly virus.

Experts are now saying that the vaccines are not 100 percent effective in combating the virus, but it reduces the chances of someone losing his or her life due to COVID-19.

Powell had been due to receive a booster shot for his vaccine last week but had to postpone it when he fell ill. He had also been treated for the early stages of Parkinson’s disease.

Mr. Powell is being described as a pathbreaker, serving as the country’s first Black national security adviser, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and secretary of state.

He fought to remove Saddam Hussein from Kuwait in 1991 but left him in power in Iraq.

Why people are scared to take AstraZeneca vaccine

France is working to fix the disastrous image of the AstraZeneca vaccine in the country after many in the country feel reluctant to take it.

unlike the vaccine made by Pfizer and Moderna, the efficacy of the AstraZeneca vaccine has been questioned after confusion about its trial results has eroded people’s confidence in it.

France President Emmanuel Macron was among those to disparage the jab, saying in late January that the vaccine seemed “quasi-ineffective” in people above 65 years.

Following President Macron’s comments, France’s Health Authority made an official recommendation on 2 February that the vaccine should not be used for people over 65.

It said more studies were needed before it was rolled out to older age groups. This automatically sends a wrong signal to people worldwide about the vaccine.

Based on the above, other European countries also recommend it for people under 65. Switzerland which is not a member of the European Union has ruled against approving the vaccine to be used by its citizens.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said she won’t take AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine because she’s too old, noting that the vaccine has been approved for only people under 65 in Germany, and she is 66.

While some poor countries would be happy to have the vaccine, more than 1.4 million doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine are sitting in storage in Germany because Germans are scared to take it. The healthcare workers in Germany have reportedly administered only 240,000 doses so far.
