NBA Africa and Hennessy celebrated their partnership with the launch of the first floating basketball court on the continent. Nigeria was also the first country in the continent to launch the first-ever digital currency in the continent. Thus Nigeria has proven again that it is indeed the ‘Giant of Africa.’
The former WNBA and NBA players – 2003 WNBA Champion Astou Ndiaye (Senegal), 2015 AfroBasket Champion and former NBA player, Olumide Oyedeji, and Wakanow CEO and former NBA player, Obinna Ekezie, and some Nigerian artists were among those in attendance.
The event was hosted by media personality and entertainer, Jimmie Akinsola. The occasion was also graced by some NBA Africa and Hennessy leadership.
The CEO of NBA Africa, Victor Williams, said: “It is the first activation that we have done in Lagos with our partners from Hennessy, and we wanted to bring to Lagos the spirit and the energy of the NBA, and in what better place does it than right here, in the middle of this iconic passage, right next to the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge.”
A new popular Nigerian musician Mayorkun performed at the occasion.
