Yves de Mbella, a television presenter in Ivory Coast who was suspended for 30 days for glorifying rape, has been convicted and given a one-year suspended prison sentence.

Additionally, the presenter was fined 2 million CFA francs which is about $3,600.

Mbella invited a convicted rapist onto his prime-time show and asked him to simulate a rape using a mannequin.

The man who appeared on the show was reportedly sentenced to two years in prison.

Mbella apologized for asking his guest to demonstrate how he raped women. He wrote on his Facebook page:

“I’m sincerely sorry to have shocked everyone while trying to raise awareness. I made an error.”

“I’m also sorry for everything that was said or done during that sequence of the program yesterday that hurt. I beg for forgiveness from all victims of rape.”
