Leon County Circuit Judge John C. Cooper agreed with a group of parents who claimed in a lawsuit that DeSantis’ order is unconstitutional and cannot be enforced.

According to the executive order issued by the governor, parents were given the sole right to decide if their child wears a mask at school.

The judge said that Gov. Ron DeSantis overstepped his authority by issuing an executive order banning mask mandates.

The judge stated that “exercising the right in that way is harmful or potentially harmful to other people.”

Therefore, the school districts in Florida may impose mask mandates.

It is surprising that such an order was issued in a country where COVID-19 has claimed the lives of over 600,000 people, and there is no end in sight.
