More African Americans are escaping the incessant racism and prejudice in the United States.

The rate at which blacks in America are moving to African countries has increased since a racist became the U.S president. The amazing thing about all of this is that nobody seems to be offering any legitimate solutions to the race issue.

HelpingPoorPeople Dot Com - Why some African Americans are moving to Africa

Muhammida el-Muhajir, one of those who have moved from the U.S to Africa was interviewed by Aljazeera and she said she moved because, despite her education and experience, she was always made to feel like a second-class citizen especially under the Trump administration.

Moving was an opportunity to fulfill her potential and avoid being targeted by racial violence.

She also said “I want people to understand that they have options and alternatives.

Most black people in America don’t know that these options exist, they think they have to suffer because there’s nowhere else to go. But no, there are other places.” …”You might not have electricity, but you won’t get killed by the police either.”

It is estimated that between 3,000 and 5,000 African Americans live in Accra, the Ghanaian capital.

They are teachers in small towns in the west or entrepreneurs in the capital and they say that even though living in Ghana is not always easy, they feel free and safe.

According to Heather McGhee whose new book debuted last week at #3 on The New York Times nonfiction bestseller list, the phrase “drained-pool politics” could join “White fragility” in the lexicon people invoke when talking about race.

Heather McGhee tells the story of the Fairground Park pool in her powerful new book, “The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together.”

“These public pools were for Whites only. But when civil rights leaders successfully pushed for them to be integrated, many cities either sold the pools to private entities or, in the case of Fairground Park, eventually drained them and closed them down for good.”

“These closures didn’t just hurt Black people, though — they also denied the pleasures of the pool to White people.”

McGhee has a name for this pain. She calls it “drained-pool politics.”

She says if you want to know why the US has one of the most inefficient health care systems among advanced nations, some of the worst infrastructure, and a dysfunctional political system, blame drained-pool politics.
